Re: Endometriosis (Lynn) and lumpy breasts

Hi there,

Well, first of all, you've got what it takes to get through any adversity, health or otherwise: A great sense of humour. I have dense breasts also. My mother is 54, does not have breast cancer, but her sister does. No one else in the family has it. My aunt, 47 yrs old, who was diagnosed 5 years ago, was going through the break of a marriage, alienation of her only daughter, loss of her home and job, car accident and to top it all off, breast cancer. They took out the lump, gave her chemo and radiation and she put it behind her. February 96, she was diagnosed with matastesis (sp.?) as the cancerous breast tissue had migrated to her lungs, causing fluid build up in her lungs and causing her breathing problems. She could have actually drowned. They (experts) gave her 6 weeks or so and diagnosed her at stage 4 of the 5 stages of cancer. There were many large lesions on her lungs which they could not treat. She was sent for stem-cell replacement (last try)therapy up north, only to be turned away as a lost cause. She went back to her own doctor, was put on a new drug called Taxol which is a water-based derivative of tamoxifin and is better absorbed by the body with less side effects. It was her last hope, but she held up hope. A few weeks later, she went back for an x-ray and, miracle of miracles, they couldn't find any lesions. Bone scans and other tests could not detect any more cancer. The oncologist just stood there scratching his head. Well, right now, nearly 1.5 years later, I think she's out camping somewhere. We went to the south of France last April. Along with a great deal of faith, a supportive family and friend network and a very quirky sense of humour, she intends to be here for a very long time. She has defied medical science and as a matter of fact, has been written-up as a medical enigma in Oncology Today. Many of doctors and nurses who treated her can't believe she's still here, but she is, in technicolour. The bottom line is this: Don't let any doctor play God or try to tell your Mom or you how long you've got on this earth. There is only one entity who knows the answer to that, along with all other things. My aunt also attributes her current good health to naturopathic medicine and it would be recommended for you to find a good practitioner, if you haven't already, for both your Mom and you (preventative). Flax seed is also excellent for breast denseness, as well as astragalus. Go and see a Chinese medicine specialist as well. The flax seed has cut down on my painful breast syndrome (as has going off the pill), as well as keeping me regular. Good luck in your plight and keep your sense of humour! Nothing is impossible.
