Re: Alt. TreatmentsFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netWed Aug 26 11:58:28 1998
lee, i got your list. i wrote about aromatherapy. i went to a shop in Burlington, VT and they mixed me a combination for massage of the abdomen. i read enough books to find which oils are most helpful. if you don't want to invest the time or money in books, just go to a shop. they know all this. you use a carrier oil (sweet almond, vegetable, etc.) then small amts. of essential oils are added. Clarey sage is very good, lavender, juniper. i massaged twice daily. the effects sometimes take up to 2-3 months. after about 2 mos i noticed much less cramping. it could have been placebo effect but it felt good, was non-invasive, and inexpensive. i continued it for a year until i had a ruptured ovarian cyst and because of a mass on the ovaries and the pain from another cyst rupture then had a hysterectomy. i used the oil until the day of surgery and then continued to use it when i got home to help the bruising. one of the residents was knowledgeable about aromatherapy and supported my use of it. i can give you more info if you like. Glenda
