Heather,

I felt much the same way you did and had ovulation pain that sent me through the roof for a couple/three days. Then soon after I'd miss a week of life while I menstruated. I obediently did everything any doc suggested for years! As each time my renewed hope in a drug was crushed by failure, I became very depressed by the limited answers my doctors offered me.

In desperation, I've turned to combining methods. I now use prescription progesterone (original molecule) cream and have added nutritional supportive measures, physical therapy and lifestyle changes. I'm also seriously thinking about using herbs again. However, I've lost my notes on them and that is why I haven't started yet.) I think that if I don't find these recipes and instructions for herbal hormone balancing, I may decide to go with the Chinese herbology disciplines. I've been fascinated with the American evaluations and trials of the Chinese herbs and methods. And, I will be contacting the Institute for Traditional Medicine in Portland, Oregon, for assistance in finding a health professional trained in prescribing Chinese herbs.

Read and learn as much as possible. We are all individuals; therefore, what works for one may not work for another. I have noticed some similarities though. It seems that many of us can not tolerate the regular drug therapies or that those therapies aren't helping anymore or perhaps never did. The point is many times we turn to alternatives when we have reached the end of our ropes. And most of the women who I communicate with privately say that they have had similar observations and feel better using the alternatives.

I don't know what I don't know. But it is interesting. I can only wonder what difference my life may have had if I had tried these less invasive measures first.

Whatever methods you choose while attempting to pursue better health and wellness, I wish you every success. And, if you ever feel the need to change direction (pointing away from the allopathic measures) and a desire to learn more about the safer, less invasive alternatives, just ask. Information empowers you to make informed decisions regarding how you wish to manage your own health challenges.

Sunshine, Lorianne

i can relate. i used to have the same problem when my doctor actually allowed me to ovulate. also, one thing i've read that could also cause brief but acute pain is a small blood cyst rupturing. anyway, i am looking for the same answers as you are, that is, how to lead a relatively normal reproductive life, instead of being constantly medicated. makes me feel abnormal, you know? hope you find the answers you are looking for.
