Mirena experiences? Cramping after insertion?

Hello everyone,

Just had the Mirena inserted yesterday after two years of thinking about it.  I had come to the end of my rope with the period pain from ic, endo & possible adeno.  Had two surgeries including one with a well-known endo specialist who even did a presacral neurectomy & endo excision, but no pain relief.  I was sick of being bedridden at least four days a month.  Gyno recommended the Mirena a few years ago as she had seen many women with adeno/endo have pain relief from the device so I finally did it.  Insertion wasn't painful at all (granted I took a tramadol before insertion and she numbed me up with lidocaine) but a few hours after I started experiencing cramps, period type cramps (requiring tramadol every 4 hours) that I know are supposed to happen as the uterus gets used to the device.  Question, how long do these strong cramps generally last? I presume my cramps are stronger than the average woman who gets a Mirena inserted as I have adeno/endo, do any ladies out there have experience with this? Any info would be greatly appreciated! I feel pretty confident in my decision to get this, a greater good hehe.

Hope all are having a  pain free day :-)
