Re: Endometriosis Question about bleeding and painFrom: E. (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed Jun 24 16:18:40 2009
It could be the endo, or hormonal fluctuations because you just took out the IUD and your hormones will take awhile to stabilize, this could cause bleeding. Again, with sex, the same thing, your hormones may be spiking and after you have sex, bleeding starts. I would ask your doctor for a hormone profile to see what your hormone levels are like. It could also be that your endo is kicking up and causing the bleeding, in that case, you may want to think about surgery with an endo expert. You mention clotting disorders. Are you on any kind of medication for these clotting disorders? If so, that may be contributing to the bleeding. If you have big cysts on your ovary, that could also be causing the bleeding. Cysts can cause your hormonal levels to go wacky and this may lead to bleeding. There are a lot of things that could be happening, I would go back to your doctor and definitely get a hormone profile and ask him what he plans to do about the bleeding. If he refuses or balks, it may be time to speak to an endo expert. Here are some expert's websites where you can find out more: Dr. Cook in CA http://www.pelvicpain.com/ Dr. Lyons in Georgia http://www.thomasllyons.com/procedures.htm Dr. Robbins in Maine http://www.endoexcision.com/ Dr. Liu in TN http://www.gyndr.com/ and Dr. Redwine http://www.endometriosistreatment.org/ There are two doctors, Dr. Orbuch and Dr. Seckin, who are in NYC and specialize in endo. You can check them out at ratemds.com.
