Re: Should I be tested for endometriosis?From: Ramey (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue Jun 23 14:33:15 2009
I would definitely go to a doc about it. Your regular OB/GYN can do some ultrasounds to see if anything comes up there (one of my cysts shoes uyp on the initial u/s). Other than that, I would keep a pain/symptom diary, and send it to a specialist for review. Sounds suspicious, though - I had similar symptoms for years, including the diarrhea. Turned out I had endo on my bowels, bladder, ovaries, etc etc. And I had adenomyosis, which was causing the SEVERE menstrual pain. I also was not concerned about fertility, but I was concerned with the quality of my life. I opted to have a hysterectomy at the same time as my endo excision, and it has changed my life. Some folks have listed some specialists here, and I went to the CEC in Atlanta and had surgery with Dr. Sinervo. It was the best decision I could have made for my health. Remember: if it is endo, it only gets worse without treatment. Fertility aside, the pain can cause you to black out, to be incapacitated for days at a time. It is easier to remove the earlier you catch it. Good luck to you!
