Getting a unilateral oophorectomy in July, any info would be great. From: heavenlygarcia (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed May 27 07:55:24 2009
I have been struggling with constant right side ovary pain for close to 2 years every day. I have had 2 laps, one with the CEC, and have had no relief. I have gone to the doctor and made the decision that since I have had endo excision and I still don't feel better, that at this point it must be inside the ovary so it will come out. I am excited to finally have some light at the end of this painful tunnel obviously, but I wanted some info from women who have had one ovary removed. Is there any time period that your hormones are crazy while the other ovary takes over? or does it take over immediately? How long did it take to recover from it? I asked my doctor and he said 2 weeks, it took me 1 month just with the other laps, and this is more involved so I don't think 2 weeks is right. Plus I work at a kennel, where I walk dogs (some bigger than me), clean kennels, feed pets, and give them meds, should I be worried about walking some of these dogs for a month or longer? I think they might hurt me, they aren't all well behaved on a leash. Plus I know after surgery you get tired out quickly for a few months. I don't have anything else specific to ask, but any and all info. about experiences would be wonderful. Thank you.
