Re: hysterctomy for endometriosisFrom: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue May 26 20:54:22 2009
Fortunatley I do have the best endometriosis expert on the East Coast. I got tired of doctors who were not experts so I sought out the best. He is an expert at the advanced laproscopy "de venci" technique and knows where to look on ligaments, behind organs, micro-organisms, excision, etc. He specializes in pelvic pain with endo and other pelvic floor disfunctions. He only performs a hysterectomy when all else has been exhausted. You must go through pelvic PT before you are even considered a candidate with him. He also runs clinical research studies on endo and pelvic floor disfunction. I know he is the lead doctor/teacher at UNC and teaches other doctors with this procedure and has many books and articles published in medical journals. I was not about to mess around with surgery without going to the top doctor. However, I still have lots of anxiety and know the pain may not go away. I am nervous about an immediate menapause and having the same level of pain. I know after the surgery, I have to follow up with more Pelvic PT to work out tramatized ligaments (levator ani). And botox injections may be a discussion after surgery (I don't know what the studies are on this). Anyone have botox for endo and ligaments in the pelvis??? I am in my mid forties...so I am complete with having children. I was blessed to be able to have one at 40 but never was able to conceive again. Any info on the true side efects anyone has experienced with complete removal (uterus, ovaries, ligaments, cervex and possible bowel excisions surgery would be much appreciated. Oh...I have to do a bowel ultrasound the day before surgery just in case it has penetrated the bowel. If so, the gyn oncologist will be their as well.
