You need to learn more about endo, and your doctor does too. It could be mild or major endo...you can't tell from symptom.....but I would not have a lap with him.

Do you have a lot of pain in general? You have to weight the benefits of surgery, with the right doctor, who can remove and and possibly keep bad problems from occurring in the future. But there's always the risk of adhesions. Endo experts can limit adhesions through certain pracices.

My endo did get worse, and I wish I had had surgery years before. But I also have had adhesions. So there's a plus - the pain is better, but I think I have some adhesions. If I'd had had it earlier, it probably would have been better for me. relief of pain earlier, AND, in my opinion, less adhesions because less endo would have had to be removed. But I didn't know of any doctors that were experts, and I had your same questions.

You might try things like diet, see if it helps, and natural progesterone. I did not have a chance to try these things years ago, becaheuse I didn't know about them. See if that helps at all...google 'endometriosis diet' and see endo-resolved.com. See johnleemd.com and endo101.com for some info about progesterone. But progesterone and diet might help with symptoms - in general does not shrink endo.

Endo does not show up on sonograms. Your doctor seems to be trying to help you, but you really need an endo expert's opinion. The CEC does record reviews, for free, and the doctor himself will call you. centerforendo.com

It won't take you long at all to learn more about endo, and make your decisions. I'd suggest looking into the CEC and seeing if someone is closer to you, and get their opinion too. What part of the country are you in?

Here are some sites to check out

endoexcision.com

pelvicpain.com

endo-resolved.com

erc.activboard.com/ will also give you feedback and doc info.
