Is this normal?From: Elisa (anonymous@obgyn.net,)Mon Mar 30 23:26:06 2009
I had a laparoscopy done about 3 weeks ago now and apparently it turns out that all these years of complaining about period pain (which lead to ovulating pain) – I actually had endometriosis, which has now been taken out. I believe my case was more the location - touching my bowel wall - rather than the amount. My post op appt with my gyno is still in a few weeks, so I don’t quite have much of an understanding of what is going on, tho when I saw him after my surgery he seemed positive. So far I have only seen my local Dr the week after my op to take the stiches out and she said the way I was feeling was normal...... I am a little confused tho, after all this reading about having a laparoscopy I was under the impression it was only going to take a few days to recover, however I was on my back for at least 4 of those days straight and felt nauseas through to the second week, even now at times and I think I managed to get or still have flu like symptoms not sure if its all related or just bad luck etc. I started going for the occasional walk within the last week or so, as I had had tremendous sugar cravings the week of my op (is this just me?) and I have also been dying to get back into my squash (which I tried to play last night – and could barely play and spent the rest of the night on the couch stretched out - I was in more pain after trying to play rather than during)! The reason I am so keen to get back into exercise is because I believe it helps manage my weight and PCOS (not that I quite have my weight managed just yet - But i feel like I put so much on with all my sugar cravings after my op that I just wanted to get back on track! Which I guess I will try sort out with my gyno when my appt comes around - so the saga continues etc? I guess my real question is what I am feeling normal? How long is it supposed to take to heal from this? I have been having night sweats and struggling to sleep.. I keep getting this occasional stabbing pain on my RHS... my rib cage and back has been aching... I have more days that I feel bloated than days that I don’t, I am still finding it a struggle to sit up all day at work at my desk, I’m tired and only really find relief when I lie down and stretch out plus I still can’t wear tight things around my waist like jeans or stockings – I’m living in dresses..... Am I pushing myself here? Is this normal? Can anyone shead some light?
