nausea from surgical and pain medications is centrally mediated. Eating won't help. What will help is an anti-nausea drug like Zofran or Phenergan. There's really very little pain from the incisions and probably not much from surgery - mostly weirdness because you have glue in your belly button. And later, it itches like crazy, but no big deal.
