Re: Provera 100mg for endoFrom: kchris (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri Jan 30 16:56:13 2009
That was me who wrote the message on the 26 Jan "endo in lungs, coughing up blood" That explains my story in review. I am in Australia Victoria and have been to various Australian web sites for extra advice, I must say I am a little disappointed. I have seen a chest specialist, docs and a gynecologist. After lots of disbelief, and 'na, it can't be that' they have diagnosed me with endo in the lungs. I have also just had other confirming tests like blood work and testing for the cells in the blood I cough up (I am about to have another CT before my period next week). They were also thinking of performing another bronchoscopy, but because it can sometimes be hard to see and I wasn't up to another major procedure. They decided to put that off and try provera. They told me if I stop getting the bleeds on provera along with the results of the other tests, that really does confirm it. I was told provera stops and shrinks the cells and after 6 to 9 months of treatment I could have a high chance of being symptom free from then on. I had read about the possibility that it could be most likely be in other places in my body too. I know I have it near my bowel ect, but it does not trouble me really at all. I have pain sometimes (manageable with strong panadol), bloating- lose poo. That is why it was such a surprise when it started in my lungs. I thought well you would have to have it real bad down there to get it somewhere like the lungs- but no not at all. The thought of it being else where does scare me a fair bit and I asked my gyno about it. He said well the provera will shrink it there too if that be the case. He has seen endo in lots of weird places but I am the first one with it in the lungs he and his colleagues have heard of or seen hear. I can not believe how scary it has all been. This web site has been my beacon. I feel alone a bit here in OZ. I tried to search for that other Australain someone mentioned who had endo in the lungs and posted here sometime ago. I could not find her....... Would love to speak to someone from own country. Also I will mention that my sister gets endo in her nose and suffered from cysts. She is now however symptom free. We have not been on best of terms but are beginning to mend some bridges. Hopefully I can chat to her for support. I would love to hear from other ladies who have been on provera 100 mg tablets for the treatment of endo. Even better if it was from someone who used it for endo in the lungs. I have looked in the archives, but that was a bit scary too. Is really that bad and do most people have those kind of side effects. I know it is human nature to only report bad effects. I am hoping there are woman who have used with no real big problems at all. What do you think of my treatment. Posting is long, sorry :)
