I think I have endometriosisFrom: Brianne (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed Jan 28 19:27:58 2009
Since my first menstruation, at age 11, I had painful periods. As I got older I was put on birth control pills (which brought on migraines) to control the pain. Since I couldn't stay on them I pretty much stuck with the pain and heard my grandmother's stories of how she had painful periods, and my mother told me the same. Recently I was diagnosed with PCOS as well as interstitial cystitis (painful bladder). I figured that this is why I have pain during sex and why I have an incredible urge to pee, so much so it hurts. I have been put on medication for both PCOS and IC and the symptoms are so so. Still, every month my period has me doubled over in bed crying. As I get older the cramps are more intense, I now have lower back pain, I have pelvic pain and no anti-inflammatories bring relief. Heat packs used to, but those no longer do. I almost went to the ER yesterday because I just couldn't deal with it. I called my gyno and as usual she blew me off. She thinks because endometriosis doesn't run in my family, I must not have it. She "doesn't know what to tell me" when it comes to my painful cramps. She "has done all she can do". Can anyone recommend a website or gynocologist in the Philadelphia, PA area?? I cannot take the blase attitude of my doctor anymore. I know something is wrong with my periods and the pain, but no one is listening to me. If it isn't endometriosis, it must be something! Thank you, Brianne
