Sheri, I had a laparotomy Nov. 6 (so it's been about 8 wks ago) and had the same numbness in the same area. It IS slowly going away--at this point, I have slight numbness directly next to the incision (for only about 1/4" or so). My dr said the nerves have to regenerate themselves and it just takes awhile for them to do that. It's a weird feeling, isn't it?
