I don't know if other states have it, but in NY you can look up lawsuits concerning all physicians that practice in NY. It's "The New York State Department of Health Office of Professional Medical Conduct." You should see if California has something similiar, and check out to see if there were any medical malpractice cases (most doctors realistically have one or two lawsuits in their pasts).

A good doctor always listens to their patients concerns. The doctor may be blunt, or have an attitude, but the doctor should always listen to their patient. A doctor that's not willing to discuss concerns/risks/worries is fishy in my opinion.

It's important that you trust your doctor, that you feel comfortable with your doctor, and that your doctor treats you with respect.

You can always meet with this doctor, and see how you feel about her. If you like her great :) If you don't, you can talk with other doctors and see if there are other options.

Goodluck with everything!
