Depo-Provera problem and Endo--From: Maggie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed Nov 26 10:21:17 2008
I have had Endometriosis since I was 16, and I am now 21. At 18, I started being treated with the Depo Provera shot, and it has worked -perfectly-... no flare ups, no attacks... But I've reached the three year mark with it, and I will have to stop taking it because after three years it beings to reduce bone density in women. Now, here's where it gets complicated. I could just do regular birth control regimens to help with the pain instead of Depo, but I recently had a breast reduction. ANY of the other options besides Depo that I have checked out lead to enlarged breasts-- which would be devastating emotionally AND physically, stretching my stiches and scars and causing all kind of problems. Surgery would be an option, but my insurance, as a 21 year old, is just about to run out. Is anyone using anything for their endometriosis that does not enlarge the breasts?
