Re: Is this normal one week after a lap? From: Brandy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat Oct 25 10:46:05 2008
Hi there, I'm so sorry that you're having a tough recovery. I just had my first lap on tuesday and wasn't expecting it to be so bad. My lap involved excision of endo and removal of parts of my right ovary. Just today, finally, my abdominal muscles aren't as sore as they have been and I'm able to stand upright, although my incisions are still very sore. And my back pain has fully returned to the point that i'm using crutches to get around again. I have the EXACT same bladder issues as you are having. I was just telling my sister a couple of days ago, I cant tell when I have to pee! And then when I go, I have to kind of just sit there and let it come out on its own (sorry if that's TMI). I have to just sit and wait until it stops because I cannot tell when I'm done otherwise. I dont have any incontinence, I'm not worried that I'll lose my bladder control at all, it's just not normal. I'm also having some bowel issues. mostly I'm just really really constipated, so I've been taking Miralax and that seems to help move things along, but my right leg and lower back KILL me during a B.M. I'm sorry that your stomach is hurting now too, as if your other symptoms weren't bad enough! I can't imagine what this would be like without pain medicine! Even though a lap is usually an outpatient procedure and many people have pretty easy recoveries, it's still a major surgery and a shock to your system. I'm sorry I can't be of more help to you. I wish you all the best.
