Pain and DiscomfortFrom: Lois (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri Oct 24 09:56:02 2008
I have been taking Levothyroxine for three months now and it seems as though my endo symptoms are getting worse. The Doctor prescribed me Neurontin and it does not seem to relieve any of the symptoms. When I take the Vicodin it gives me enough relief where I can function normally for a short period of time. Three weeks ago I needed a refill on my Vicodin and my Dr's associate stated that he will not refill the prescription if I need a refill again and that I should have a hysterectomy. I once again went through the whole deal of not having insurance, but also the fact that a hysterectomy does not solve endo. He stated that I should go to a teaching hospital and have the hysterectomy done, but to me this is just a band-aid for the endo. I really do not want to be a guinea pig when I have no insurance if other complications arise. I am thankful that my regular Dr who is just a General Practioner is compasionate to my pain. I am 42 years old and already had a oophrectomy(left ovary and fallopian tube removed when I was 17 years old) and the root of the cyst was wrapped around my bowel and I wonder if this was actually endo. I was able to get pregnant and have one child who is 21 now and I am so thankful for him, but was never able to get pregnant after that. I just needed to vent and just need to know if anyone else feels horrible when taking Levothyroxine. I hate this damn disease and right now it feels as though my ovary wants to jump right out of my skin due to the horrific pain. I hate the joint pain, bowel spasms, stomach pain and bladder pain, and not to mention the pain that comes with ovulation and the heavy periods that come with clots and hemmoraging. I am sorry to all of you that feel pain on a daily basis and lets all hope and pray that one day we will all be pain free.
