Re: covery time from lapFrom: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri Sep 26 16:22:17 2008
I had a lap done in Feb. of 07. I had it done on a Friday and my doctor told me I could go back to work on Monday. I was home Monday and Tuesday. I am an attorney so I did go to court on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday but I didn't stay in the office. I think that it will depend on how extensive the surgery is. I had a lot of lesions and scar tissue that displaced my colon. The doctor took out my appendix as well. I do have to say, though, I have been taking the pill on a continual basis since August 2007 and I feel bad. I don't have a period but I have discomfort most of the time and spotting the majority of times. Sex has been very painful. I may talk to my doctor about doing another lap. After the surgery I felt a hundred percent better. I have been struggling with painful and heavy periods for at least 15 years. It was getting to the point that I was throwing up because of how painful my cramps were. Then I started with constant back pain on my right side. That is when I opted for the surgery. As far as the pain part of the surgery. The most painful part is the gas working out of your stomach. What happens is that the doctor fills your stomach with gas so he/she has room to look around. The next few days, the gas will work itself out. Your stomach will be bloated for about a week so I would definitely wear loose fitting clothes. I slept in the recliner for a week or so because it was more comfortable than laying down.
