Re: Endo and digestive problems?From: ampyali (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu Aug 28 12:47:38 2008
I had digestive problems for many, many years before being diagnosed with endo. I was told I probably had IBS and to take Metamucil on a daily basis, even though I was really never very constipated. Most of my symptoms were gas, bloating, and diarrhea and gut-wrenching intestinal pain during my period. Well, the Metamucil really did me in--the worst constipation of my life. I had good results with regularity from eating flourless sprouted grain bread every morning, but still had problems with severe bloating and gas that would occur without warning. I had excision surgery for endo and a hysterectomy for adeno 6 weeks ago and I might well have had a gut transplant. Everything is working so perfectly--no gas, pain or bloating. Extremely regular bowel pattern now, with no swings towards either extreme. Since a lot of endo goes undiagnosed and many more women are diagnosed with IBS than men, kind of makes me wonder if IBS as a disease really exists. Maybe it's just a symptom endo?
