Re: interstitial cystitisFrom: Jennifer (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu Jul 31 11:03:44 2008
Hi Anon, I have IC, just diagnosed this month. There is a common link between Lupron and the shrinking of the urethra that causes IC and its symptoms. I had a cystoscopy (sp?) on the 21st of this month. Luckily, I had no ulcers or damage inside my bladder, thank goodness. I don't have all the names of the things but he did fill my bladder with a certain fluid that helps deter the symptoms and cramping of IC. Again, i apologize for the lack of verbage on this. I did not go to a urologist for this, my Gyno actually did the procedure. It was in his office and they put you under. My doctor did not use narcotic based "twilight", this is the name of the antestia (sp?) that they use, so I was alert and awake 30 minutes after the procedue. That was great. You will have to have someone drive you and you are not allowed to drive all day. Anyways, sorry I am off the point... I have recently been seeing a Registered Dietician (RD) and she put me on Aloe Vera Juice (mix it with water) and Flax Seed pills to help with the cramping. I know I had horrible bladder cramps. Since beginning all of this treatment I have been doing really well. I would suggest you speak with your doctor, like always, or talk to a dietician too. Doctors, in my opinion, use too many pharmaceuticals to "cure" things that could be cured on the natural side. I wish you luck in your research and please feel free to contact me at my personal email with any questions. Thanks! Jen Adee
