Re: First visit with Fertility Doctor

I, like Wen, went through ovarian stimulation and IUI this past cycle
for the first time. I have had all the tests, excision surgery and a
period of 6 months of TTC on our own. Nothing has worked for me so far.
Yes, ovarian stimulation *could* make your endo worse, but what are your
other options??? If you're not getting pregnant on your own, have had
the tests, the surgery, etc., you're not left with a lot of choices.
Also, if you are able to get pregnant through ovarian stimulation, isn't
that better for your endo than not getting pregnant and continuing to
cycle? I know pregnancy is not a cure for endo, but it does help in some
women at least for a temporary period of time. As with all fertility
medicine, it is a gamble. It's just a matter of how much you want to
risk.
I also want to point out that there are some endo experts who are also
fertility docs. Dr. Koh is one. I do not know if there are others.
Janelle - I see that you're going to have a lap done. Make sure your
doc at least does an HSG to check your tubes while he's in there. If
they aren't open, attempts at IUI will be unsuccessful and a waste of
time and money. Don't be afraid to get a 2nd opinion if you have any
doubts. We were so glad that we did! Watch the prices for the
treatments as well; they vary greatly from clinic to clinic. I hope all
goes well for you!
Wen - How are you doing and what DPO are you? I am 7 DPO and the wait is
excrutiating! Hope we both have luck this time :)
