Re: HELP I'm 28 and need a hysterectomyFrom: Debbie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat May 31 17:03:54 2008
Jesus Amanda, I'm going to speak my mind here, ok? I am sure I'll have people flame me for this but I couldn't live with myself if I didn't speak up. Unless you have severe last stage cancer there is NO WAY a 28 yr old woman should be having a total hysterectomy, or in fact any kind of hysterectomy, especially not for Endometriosis. I am outraged that a medical professional would even consider this. I urge you to cancel your surgery and do some serious reading before you make the worst mistake of your life. NO WOMAN should have her ovaries removed unless she has cancer! Being thrust into surgical menopause at the age of 28 will most likely throw you neck deep into a bunch of problems that will last your entire life. This is NOT reversible. Without ovaries you are at risk of horrible side effects, hot flashes, migraines, osteoporosis and depression. This surgery is not the answer! If you are here asking qustions now, and your surgery is just a week away, then that tells me that maybe you haven't quite thought this out enough. The recovery for something like this could be months! Please, I beg you to do some more research before you do something so terribly drastic and irreversible. There are many books to read that explain a great many alternatives and I cannot believe that there are not other methods you can try first. Have you tried excision surgery? Have you tried Progesterone Cream? I beg you to read the book "What Your Doctor May NOT Tell You About PreMenopause" by Dr John Lee, and also "The Hysterectomy Hoax: The Truth About Why Many Hysterectomies Are Unnecessary and How to Avoid Them" by Dr Stanley West. If after you have read them you still think this is the way to go, then by all means rebook your surgery, but I am sure once you have read them you will be so horrified that you will be glad you decided not to. I have done so much reading on this subject, and on the subject of hormones and how they work, and how vital an organ the uterus and especially the ovaries are, and I made the decision not to have anything removed and to live with the consequences, because I could not take the chance that I would trade one set of acceptable symptoms for a bunch of unnacceptable ones. Please have a good look through my site and have a good long think about this: http://www.angryuterus.com I wish you well
