Thanks for your words of caution - they especially mean a lot coming from someone who obviously knows how to kick some *ss!:)

Surgery yesterday went well; v tired and sore last night but did a very slow mile walk, and then walked about 6-7 m today (at a much more normal pace). Not really tempted to run yet (and I had a hernia 3 years ago and I promise you DON'T want one!). I didn't realise that was a risk after these surgeries.

You sound like your level of fitness before the lap will make it pretty easy to regain your strength once you can really work out again. I guess what we all need to remember is patience -- but I also think that is particularly challenging for those of us who are used to being really active!

Thanks again for your words of wisdom - I know you'll be the toughest cop out there once again:).
