suspecting endometriosisFrom: TNJen (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu Apr 24 19:16:19 2008
I am 35 and my husband and I have been trying to concieve for about four months. Since December 2006 I have experienced spotting for 5-7 days before my period begins. Although I've always had pretty intense cramps since I was a teenager, I also noticed that they've gotten more intense, and I also have lower back pain into my legs that is usually present during ovulation time, spotting, and my period. My cramps and back pain have gotten so bad on the first day of my period that I am pretty loaded up with Advil and many times have to stay in bed. My cycle has also gone from a consistent 27 days to anywhere from 22-25 days, generally around 24 or 25. I saw a new obgyn last week and he would like us to start fertility testing because of my age and these changes in my cycle. He suspects possible luteinized unruptured follicle syndrome. We did not discuss the possibility of endometriosis but in doing some research and reflecting, I am wondering if this might be likely and wondered if anyone has any advice or thoughts to share on that. Honestly, I was a little overwhelmed by our conversation about fertility testing and did not mention the increased intensity of cramps or the back pain. Thanks!
