Re: Shoulder pain, etc.

Looks like a long time since anyone added to these comments but I've
found them and feel even more annoyed with my family doctor...
This is my story:
I have had terrible shoulder pain (also gong down to my wrists and
fingers - lots of trigger pionts)for about 2.5 years. It was made worse
by having to carry equipment for my job and I believed it was related to
my long-term general back problems (which have actually eased up since I
took up dancing a few years ago) even though it seemed a different
problem. After complaining to my GP many times, I persuaded him to
refer me to the local hopital for physio. The physiotherapist
originally thought it was related to the curvature and non-movement of
my lower spine but ended up concluding that he didn't think so after all
and wrote to my GP advising referral elsewhere for futher investigation.
(the doctor took no action)Meanwhile he used acupuncture every week for
a couple of months, which was really effective for pain management.
(note his advice re skin colour - apparently, it is less effective the
darker skinned you are - I'm mixed race olive skinned - my African
partner previously wasted a lot of money on treatment that had no
effect)
Anyway, in the meantime I have separately reported these other symptoms
to my doctor: pelvic pain- always in the same place and sometimes really
bad with tha addition of bloating and feeling like my pelvic floor has
gone, painful sex (every time), ovulation pain, bleeding during sex
(occasional), dibilitating fatigue causing lateness for work and
'crashing out' early evening. All the time asking for help so that I
could carry on working. (I gave up in the end) Now all this time I have
continued to keep fit and active studying African dance, swimming and
walking everywhere-dosing up on painkillers as necessary.
A scan showed nothing, but I was told at the time it would not show
endometriosis if I had it. Eventually, my bored doctor, still insisting
there would be nothing wrong with me said I could see a gynocologist if
I wanted a second opinion. I made an appointment, saw a sympathetic
consultant, had a laparoscopy this week and guess what the found and
treated...endometriosis. I have arranged my post op appointment with a
different doctor.
What I don't understand about my condition is that I've found that my
pains are much worse if I'm sedentary like 'relaxing' or working at a
desk but ease up if I am active - in fact the shoulder pain only goes if
I dance/exercise really hard and get very hot.
