Re: Looking for another way to deal!

Ju- I've tried several holistic methods throughout the years. Acupuncture works great if you have someone who specializes in this area as well. I use the Ibuprofen treatment--starting with small does about 3 days prior to cycle and increasing the dosage through onset. (I don't do more than 1000mg in a two hour period.) This actually helps quite a bit--compared to just taking the meds once the pain starts. I have also switched my anti-depressant to cymbalta-this helps with physical pain as well. I then go to the acupunctarist once a month and take the recommended herbs. I have been eating organic foods for a good 10 years now and excercise regularly. These definelty help. I've recently used Geraniumn oil--aromatherapy--for onset of pain. This is an oil that a menopausel friend of mine suggested for her stomach cramps and pains. The oil seems to help--relaxes me and helps with digestion issues etc. These are the things that have worked for me---not listing all the attempts out there that failed. Personally, when my body and health are strong, my symptoms subside. I have probably had 5-10 periods my whole life that were pain-free or almost pain-free. There is controversial information about dairy and sugar. WATCH OUT for these--some women feel better when drinking milk, some feel worse. I would stick to organic milk--since the hormones in regular milk probably are the problem.sugar causes damage to the individual cell when it approaches the cell membrane. too much sugar will-over time, weaken the cells. (I suggest wheat-grass or a regenerative juice product called MonaVie--there are many others like this--it's the acai juice with high antioxidant properties for cell regeneration.)

Ju--hope this helps--I choose the holistic way about 14 years ago and while I still deal with this illness--I have control over it, not like before where it had control over me.
