Endometriosis almost always comes back, and my experience has been that surgery is usually needed about every 3 to 4 years. The endometriosis doesn't seem to be any worse or any better the next time around, it just comes back and has to be dealt with all over again. My pain always gets to the point where pain meds just don't help anymore once I have gone about 3 to 4 years post-surgery and it requires the laser surgery again to get rid of the endometriosis.
