Re: how much dose laparoscope surgery cost? From: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri Feb 29 11:54:35 2008
The price totally depends upon the surgeon you have do it and the skills that he/she has along with the technoglogy they use. My first one was done by my RE and it was $10,000 with everything. My last surgery was with one of the top endoemetriosis specialists. The drs. fee was like $20,000 with an additional $10,000 for the hospital fee, anesthesioligist and labs work. So all together about $30,000, but could be more depending upon how many hours they operate on you. Its worth the extra money if you can offord it, since the quality of service is much better. Most surgeons use laser which is not that effective since they cannot remove all of it and it creates scar tissue. The specialist excises it out and it does not create scar tissue. Just be careful with the surgeon you chose, it's like the old saying you get what you pay for unfortunately. However, you can fight your insurance if you have insurance and they can prove that it is necessary to go to a specialist, since they are able to treat the condition more effectively. I have regular insurance with only in-network benefits. THey orginally denied it and said that I had to go to an in network dr. However, my drs. office proved that I need to go to him, since he is a specialist and will better be able to treat my condition and that there are only a handful of drs. in the US that can "truly" treat the condition. It was a battle, but well worth the fight.
