Try not stress about the colposcopy, I have had three, and they really
aren't that bad. I know what you mean about the pain of the exam
though, but you NEED to be calm otherwise it will hurt twice as much
because your muscles are contracted. Other than the insertion part the
rest is uncomfortable but it doesnt really hurt, just stings a little
because they do a biopsy as well. I didn't have anything removed
though, my paps just kept coming back abnormal, finally after my last
colposcopy everything appears to be normal again! Tell the doctor that
it hurts to have a pelvic exam, she/he will be much more sympathetic and
will do everything to make it more comfortable. Mine warmed up the
speculum and even used the smallest one she could.
Good luck, and try and BREATHE, the only thing worse than the minimal
pain you will feel is the feeling of not being in control of your life,
talk to your doctor if you anxiety really is interfering with your day
to day living.
