Hi

Here is a diet i got from the Endo Association in this country:

Foods to be eaten regularly: Cereals: All-Bran, Bran Flakes, Porridge.

Seeds: Linseed (Flaxseed), Poppyseed, Sunflower seeds, Sesame Seeds.

Fish: All white fish, Sardines, 1-2 helpings of oily fish (except Salmon)

Nuts: 1 portion per week of:- Almonds, Brazil nuts, Hazen nuts, Walnuts.

Vegtables: Soya Beans, Spinage, Cabbage, All types of lettuce and dark green leafy vegtables, Celery, Leeks, Tomatoes, Asparagus, Shitake Mushrooms, Green Beans, Lentils, Broccoli.

Fruit: 3 portions daily of any of the following: Strawberries, Bananas, Kiwi, Ginger, Avocado, Blackberries, Raspberries, Apples, Dates, Prunes, Apricots.

Dairy: Use all low fat dairy foods and eventually eliminate from your diet. Instead use; Soya Milk, Goats Milk, Rice Milk, Soya Yogurts, Soya Butter spreads, Soya Cheese, Goats Cheese.

Avoid Wheat and Yeast and instead use: yeast free breads, Rice cakes, Ryvita Crackers, Rye Bread and White Soda Bread (in small amounts).

Reduce and eventually stop eating the following: All Red Meat, Smoked foods, Salted food, Sugar, Refined & Processed Foods, Caffine Rich foods, Cream and High fat dairy products. Instead use; All white fish (2 helpings per week boiled, steamed, poached or grilled), Herbal teas, fresh organic chicken, Lamb, Tofu Products and Olive oil.

Alcohol: Reduce and eliminate completely but if you want a drink the following are allowed in moderation only: Red Wine, Gin, Vodka, Guinness.

Make sure to drink 1-3 Litres of water a day.

DAILY SUPPLEMENTS: Phyto Soya Capsules 35-75mg Vitamin E 400-800m Vitamin C 1000mg B Complex 1-2 tabs daily Calcium Supplement (Any brand)

Please note that soya products should be only taken in moderation (no more than once a day) as there is still on going research into the benefits of it. Estrogen is something an endo sufferer should avoid and unfortunately Soya contains Phytoestrogens, isoflavones, genistein and daidzein, which mimic the effects of oestrogen in the body. Another thing soya contains is Phytic Acid, this binds to nutrients in the gut and makes them unavailable for absorption which also have an knock on effect so basically just try and keep it to a mimimum.

I try to stick to this diet as much as i can but when i eat out i just eat normally as its hard and i guess sometimes we all need a little break to keep the spirits up!

I hope this is of some help.
