I'm also not sure why the doc said endo probably wouldn't come back! Sounds like this doc doesn't know that much about endo. Unfortunately, it is way more common for the endo to return than for it not to. I have actually had 6 different surgeries to remove endo and adhesions, including a total abdominal hysterectomy, and mine has returned yet again. I have been dealing with this for the last 13-14 years. Was this doc just a regular ob-gyn? I have stage IV endo and interstitial cystitis. Naturally, it is different for everyone, and I also hope that yours will not return, but endo doesn't usually just "go away", even after surgery. The specialists all say that only total excision surgery can be sure to remove all of the disease, and even then, it can come back. Usually, it doesn't truly return, it was never all gone to begin with. Endo has many different appearances, and not all ob-gyns are well versed in all of the different appearances, so while they may really think that they got all of it, they could be wrong. If you continue to have symptoms after you fully recover from the lap, or if the symptoms seem to return, it very well could be the endo again. Most endo patients have had a couple surgeries to remove endo, fibroids, and adhesions. I'm also not trying to sound negative, but please do some research and arm yourself with the knowledge you will need to confront your doctors, if your problems were to continue, or come back. Good luck to you!!
