Fighting your insurance company

If anyone has advise on trying to fight your insurance company to have the excision surgery, I would love to hear from you.

I currently live in Kansas City. I am trying to see Dr. Kanayama in NYC or Dr. Albee in Atlanta. Neither of which are considered, in-network with my Insurance Company - United Healthcare.

I am not sure how to proceed, I have submitted a request based on out of area, that there is not a specialist who can perform this near me, however, they are trying to say that is it deamed "experimental."

Any advise is great at this point. I really can't afford to do the surgery, flights and visits on my own with out my insurance coverage kicking in at least a portion of it.
