Bladder issues/ IC ... thoughts please !From: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon Jan 28 17:12:04 2008
I went 2 weeks ago to see a Urologist for my IC like symptoms. My OBGYN suggested this doctor. The Urologist started me on Enablex for 10 days and told me to call back to let him know if the symptoms were any better. Ten days have gone by so I called today to go ahead and schedule the surgery to inflate my bladder and get a 100% diagnosis for the IC. Here is when I hit the issue. I asked the Urologist to try and work with my OBGYN, as I would like her present during the surgery in the case that they do not find the IC. My thought is, if they are going to have to put me out, I want to know what is causing the issue even if it is not my bladder. The nurse called back after talking to the doctor today after I made this request telling me that they want me to go for a CAT Scan of my Kidneys because I had indicated on my family history that my mother had a kidney stone once. Keep in mind, I have never even had a kidney infection. I am very frustrated with the whole process because I have bladder pain, not kidney. I am not having any back pain or any other issues besides the bladder and endo. I am just look for a reason why they would have me do a CAT Scan when I need relief as soon as possible because I am not sleeping through the night. All they suggested in the mean time was pain pills, I declined. Please help anyone who has had issues with IC or any other issues involving a CAT Scan for possible diagnosis. I feel like I am being given the run around and just another useless test thats going to cost me and my insurance $$$ to tell me exactly the same thing, I have IC.
