Hi. I very seldom post on this board but do read the post from time to time and it seems like when I do there is always some poor woman going through all the misery I have been through with endo. I had a total hysterectomy when I was 28 (i am now 42) I did the Lupron a couple of times and it NEVER did me a bit of good, just managed to turn me into more of a raggin biotch than i already am. But it effects everyone different so one person's experience should not be a guarantee of the experience that someone else may have. And now about the pain from endo, I still have horrible pain in my pelvic area. I was so let down knowing I went through the surgery and threw away every chance I ever had (as slim as it was) to have another child. I only have one who is now a typical teenager, I now know why some animals eat their young. Don't let no dr ever tell you that a hysterectomy is a sure fire cure for endo, it is not. For some it can be and for some it has been a cure. If so your lucky, thank God it cured you. It did get rid of the God awful pain I had with my periods with endo though and no more crazy periods, that i am thankful for. But I still have problems and docs do nothing but stand around scratching their heads on what the problem could be because I have no more female plumbing left. I have only met one doctor who did a study on endo after a total hysterectomy. He is the only one i met that believes it can linger and cause other problems. I have even taken lupron after my surgery. I strongly suggest a good pain mang doctor to everyone who still suffers from this mess. It sucks living on pain meds but it is what it is. Its that or being stupidly brave and toughing out the pain, seeing it never goes away and I now have some sort of life as to where i had none before. I suggest everyone find a real good GI doc too. One who will listen to your theory of endo being around after a hysterectomy. If you find one that tells you no way, don't walk out of his/her office. RUN out! You will only spend precious time and a ton of money on this idiot to tell you that you just have IBS and to put you on meds that you don't need and trust me none that treat IBS will help your endo. Though some may actually have IBS, I didn't though and spent to much time and money having some guy tell me I did and put me on more meds that made me feel horrible and to get no relief what so ever. finally just hope and pray that some day they find a cure for this mess and that maybe our daughters, grand daughter or even great grand daughters do not have to suffer this same fate as us. That is the most we can hope for in the mean time. If your ever in a position to be part of a study for endo after a hyster, take part of it. I did and it did me no good but if it helps someone 20-30 even 40 to 50 years from now, it was worth it. If I knew the results would be the same again, I gained nothing from being in a study I would do it again in a heart beat, thinking that maybe one day someone can be spared a lot of misery. Good luck ladies and I hope and pray you all have a time in your life where you feel great and have no pain or even have a day where you don't have to think about endo. That will be a great day and when and if you ever get one, enjoy that day! :) hugs, Donna
