Hormone therapy after surgery

From: Thelma (anonymous@obgyn.net)

I am new to the forum. I just recently had surgery to remove endometriosis, as well as a complete hysterectomy. I was left with one ovary. My surgeon recommended that I take a low dose progestin in order to keep the endometriosis from recurring. I cannot find any information indicating this is necessary. Has anyone else been told this and if so are you taking the hormones? I sure don't want it to grow back, but with my uterus being gone, how likely is that to even happen. I am very opposed to taking hormones if not necessary.

Sincerely,
Thelma
