Lori,

I would get info from your doctor stating that your endo is impairing the function of other major organs, like your bladder, bowels...etc. I know my insurance is going to try to pull the same thing, because they had me sign a paper that said, I cannot have any infertility treatments or surgeries having to do with my ovaries. I called the head medical person of my insurance and they don't even have a clear definition of what endo is or what causes it! They said though, if my doctor says the reason for the surgery has nothing to do with my ovaries, it will most likely be approved. He would probably need to fax them that info.

I would write a letter also stating, "while endo can and does interfere with fertility in some women, it also impairs the functions of many other organs and causes severe abdominal pain on a daily basis and that is exactly what it is doing to me. Fertility is of no concern for me, that is not the reason for this surgery. Living and having to cope with daily pain is the reason for this surgery. I would say that I am getting the surgery to preserve the function of other organs and be pain free! If your doctor co-operates with you, it should be ok.

GOOD LUCK
