Re: Anyone know how to manage endo pain to Dana? From: andrea (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu Oct 18 17:57:09 2007
Dana, That's funny you mentioned Fibrovan. I found an ad for that and thought I'd try it a couple months ago, but found that the main ingredient, Nattokinase, is sold at most vitamin and health food stores for WAY cheaper! And the other ingredients in it, Licopene (found in tomatoes) and EGCG (green tea) are very common. I got mine at the vitamin shoppe for $20 (a month supply). I also make a "PMS tea" when I hurt that has Dong Quai, Cramp Bark, Fo-Ti, Valerian and Oregon Grapeseed Root in it. I take a lot of B vitamins too. All those are supposed to help cramps. I buy all the herbs separate, in liquid form and put them in tea. I think it does help, some. Heating pads will sometimes make me feel sicker too, because I always get a fever with my period and I can't tolerate any heat, so I usually have to put a cold washcloth on my forehead as well. I'm totally laid up this time of the month! :( That mixing of pills, maybe a couple advil, 5mg vicodin or even 2.5 (a half of pill) and a dramamine may work. I've found for some reason, generic pain meds make me sick & hurt my tummy, but the name-brand ones don't. If the doctor writes "brand-name necessary" on the script, your insurance will only charge you name-brand co-pay, which is usually around 20-30 bucks, instead of full price. It has something to do with the added, buffer ingredients I think. The pharmacist thinks i'm nuts and says they are all the same, but my stomach can tell the difference.
