Re: hystorectomy at 23?

Hi Stephanie,
Don't let doctors scare you. When I was in my twenties, that's one of
very few options they would offer me as well, but there are other things
out there to try. Doctors always said Lupron or Hysterectomy? I felt I
had no options either. It just depends on the doctor. If they don't
make you feel hopeful and don't offer you any real options, you just
need to be strong and find another doctor. I've been through 12 doctors
over the last 20 years for this.
Finally, 5 years ago, my general practitioner could see that I was
hopeless when it came to gynecologists and the way they were treating
me, so he said he would do all that stuff for me from then on. I was so
glad!! He tested my hormones like I had wanted all the other doctors to
do, but they refused and it turned out that I had a major hormone
imbalance!
That's what I had suspected for so long, but docs would not help me. He
put me on a natural progesterone and I went from having 19 nasty
symptoms down to 4, which is a lot more bearable. I still have severe
periods, with 2-3 days usually of BAD pain, but most of the other junk
went away. I have to take Vicodin or Lortab for those few days and
can't work, but I finally found someone who helped and who listened and
you can too.
Unfortunately, there are not many caring doctors out there and it does
take a while to find one who really wants to help you. Keep looking and
don't give up! You do not need a hysterectomy. Keep your head up and
hang in there!
Take care,
