That is the way I take Advil when I get swelling, but everyone is different. I cannot take Aleve at all because it hurts my stomach, but the Advil does not. I just meant to take it that way for one day to get the swelling down, then just take it as needed for your back pain. Just see what you can tolerate and how it feels. It may be too much for you, but that dose it just right for me. Everyone's stomaches are different when it comes to medication.
