Hi Joy, I have had two surgeries. The first was a few years back where I only had endo removed as well as adhesions. I was scared to death of surgery. However, it went well and my recovery from that surgery was quick. I had stage 3 endo so they did remove quite a bit (but I had no organs removed or did notI need any bowel work) but I was amazed at how quickly I recovered. I think I had two days of pain and where it hurt to stand straight but it went away fast. In fact by the second week I was on a trip to the beach with the family. Today I am two weeks post op from having my uterus removed (it was a laproscopic assisted vaginal hysterectomy) I did keep my ovaries and had some more endo removed. Howevever not nearly as much endo as in the past surgery. I had my uterus removed for adeno. So I have more stiches internally but still have the three laproscopic incisions. Of course my recovery has been a little slower than before but I am doing so much more than I thought I would be at this point. The pain was much less than expected (except initially waking up from surgery) Just remember to listen to your body. Drink lots of water to stay hydrated and walk between resting. You will need to walk after surgery as it helps with the dreaded gas pains as well as prevents blood clots and promotes healing through better circulation. You could have some constipation after surgery. Just have some fiber cereal and fresh fruit on hand to eat and drink water. If you get really bad gas pains (in the shoulder, it can take you by surprise) drinking peppermint tea helps. I found that advice on another site and it did help. Another hint is to have who ever will be with you after you wake up from surgery carry some chapstick for you. It is amazing how much dry mouth and dry lips you get. Also, you may find you have a sore throat for a few days after surgery. That is because of the tube they will put down your throat. If you are really nervous the morning of surgery they will give you something to calm you down. If you have any specific questions feel free to ask. Good luck and keep us updated. Waiting is hard, I know.
