Re: Surgery with Dr. Andrew Cook

Hi Sherry -

I also had surgery with Dr. Cook last week, and I'm not on any hormonal therapies - is that what you meant? I don't think he uses them, not usually, anyway. I went off continuous BCPs about a month and a half before the surgery, but that was a choice I made on my own - I didn't want any endo getting missed because it was suppressed by the hormones.

I saw him when he was at Helena Womens Health Institute in San Jose, CA ( I live in Indiana!) Before I answer your questions, I will give you my email address and you can contact me personally if you would like. I don't normally do that, but I would love to be able to help you. It is anonymous@obgyn.net Now- as far as cost, at the time I went, the entire cost was about $30,000. I was able to get my insurance (Anthem) to cover all except my out of pocket deductible. I had to pull major strings, but I got it done. My outcome was great and to this day, my endo has stayed gone. I have had other issues, but NO ENDO! I have never been treated as well as I was and haven't been treated as well from anyone since. He is the most caring Doctor that I have ever dealt with!( and I am a nurse!)The entire office is committed to you and getting you well. It is so nice to not feel like an oddity. I am normally one of those people that has problems that no one has ever dealt with before, so it was refreshing to hear someone that had complete confidence in what was wrong with you. I believe that the office has changed things a little since going on their own, but I will tell you what they did with me. I went through an extensive checkup and went through allergy testing and a complete immune workup. I met with a nutritionist and completely altered my lifestyle. I had surgery and along with the endo, I had 2 hernias repaired and had nerve blocks performed on 2 nerves that I had neuropathy in. I honestly don't know where I would be if it weren't for him. Hopefully this helpsa nd hopefully I will hear back from you!!! As far as meds and hormones he prefers, it is on a case by case basis. I mig
