I know this post was from a few days ago, I have been so ill this past few days that i havent checked this forum since last week.

I do have some advice in this situation. I havent had much experience with doctors and surgeries because i havent gotten that far but i do understand work related issues. Jillson- i understand your issue completely- I used to have this problem frequently because i too confided in peers at work all through my twenties. Now, after years of frustrating conflicts like this one, i have come to the conclusion that it is not acceptable to complain at work. I have found that people, even people that you consider to be friends, do not want to hear it. And being labeled a "complainer" will not help your situation. Some people, no matter what, will think that you are overcomplaining or that they have it worse than you do, so it is best to keep personal problems out of the workplace. I know that this is hard- but take it from someone who knows. It is better for you to know that this is the only way.

Complain to friends at home, boyfriends, parents, your journal, your cat or dog but not at work. It will hurt you in the long run and short run. Even if you feel you are "explaining" why your work performance is not as good as it should be by complaining about your malaise- people will not notice a dip in work performance as much as they will notice someone that is not happy at work and making others frustrated by complaining.

I am just writing this so that you can benefit from my years of conflicts that i dont currently experience any longer. I complain to my cat and boyfriend until he puts his earplugs in. :) I consider part of my "job" as grinning and bearing it throughout the day. I hope this helps. I know that people can be so insensitive.
