Uterine Ablation and EndoFrom: Spooner (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu Jul 26 11:13:20 2007
Hello! I'm 48, have stage 4 endo, am experiencing perimenopause symptoms, and now have abnormal uterine bleeding and endometrial thickening. I will bleed constantly for 6 weeks, then not bleed for two months, and then bleed for as long as 8 weeks. I've been given 10 day doses of medroxyprogesterone on 3 occasions in the past year and a half and now they don't seem to be working as well to control the bleeding nor my cycle. Worried that I may wind up with hyperplasia, the docs now want to do an endometrial ablation which will stop most bleeding? My question is...with all the implants of endo that I have inside my body cavity, will the lack of progesterone just build up those adhesions even faster if they suspend using progesterones? And altho I may not be bleeding as much, will I be just estrogen dominant and giving the endo a better atmosphere to proliferate? These are Q's I'll be asking my Doc, but they want me to make a decision by next week for surgery. Thanks for your help!
