To D, on Endo and IBS

I'm so confused now! If you have endo, you can't have IBS? My specialist told that most women with endo have IBS, and I know 2 of my friends with endo have going to the bathroom problems a lot too.

I'm not sure if my cramps are all one problem or 2 separate things.

I do notice that certain foods that are harder to digest make my colon spazm and my cramps get worse before and during my period. I go back and forth between diarrhea and constipation. Dairy, actually makes my pain less because it is easy to digest and also coats my stomach so the painkillers don't irritate my stomach. If someone was lactose intolerant it would definately make you bloat and have more pain. I know that endo can cause IBS if there are lesions on your bowels, which my doctor thinks I have.

Any other time than my period, I can eat anything without having any abdominal pain.

I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you at all, but I know certain foods do make a huge difference and the Bentyl I take for bowel spazms cuts down on my pain. Hmmmm, this one is just tough to figure out because endo can cause so many other symptoms and problems with your body!

What day is your surgery? I hope everything goes well for you and you feel a lot better afterwards! I really admire you, D! Being in all the pain you're in and being a teacher would be so hard. I know I couldn't do it. Wow! You are a very strong person and I know you will someday prevail over this disease!

Take care & keep in touch.
