Re: endometrioma and no pain at all, need a surgery? From: andrea (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri Jul 20 15:15:09 2007
Is your gyno a specialist? I would definately get a second opinion. What if it's just an ovarian cyst that will go away on its own? I have had many of those and you don't need surgery for them, unless you have pain for more than 3 months and they get very large. That's no surprise he suggested Lupron, they all do! It seems to be their favorite thing to prescribe, because it makes them the most money. Ablation is a freezing process that kills tissue, so I don't know how that would be less damaging. They can freeze the lining of the uterus with ablation and it's supposed to make you have lighter periods - not reduce pain at all, though. My specialist said that 50% of women still have regular bleeding after ablation too, so it is not a very reliable way to help periods. And, you can no longer conceive! It ruins the lining of your uterus permanently! Please get another opinion. It sounds like your doctor is trying to urge you into doing something you may not even need. Get a copy of the sono from him and take it to a specialist. Good luck with this!
