Hi, Lisa

I'm in the same boat as you. I used to have a good full-time job too until I was around 28, then my pain and periods started going all over the place. Now I can only work part time, even though now I ususally just have 3 days of bad pain a month. I used to bleed for 14 days in a row or have a period every other week and hot flashes and a bunch of other things too. Then at 32, I got some relief when my general practitioner tested my hormones and found out they were all screwed up. I had asked doctors to test my hormones for years, but they always said no. I wrote a LONG post about that, if you want to read it, on July 7th, it says "The Cause of Endo". It's my theory on how I think my endo and periods got so bad.

Anyway, I know you asked about diet.

Some of this is a re-post because someone else had asked me a diet question too. lol I try to eat a lot of fruits and veggies and organic meat most of the time. I've noticed that if I have certain foods like salad, anything spicy or greasy, alocohol or caffeine, before my period, my cramps get 10 times worse! (During my period I crave Taco Bell and chocolate, so that sucks! ) It seems many of us with endo also have IBS. By bowels will start spazming, along with my uterus and my lower back kills me.

Before my period I try to stick to just eating very mild, easily digestable food and avoid alcohol and caffeine! By the way, Midol has caffeine in it, so that's no good.

I eat a lot of yogurt, cereal, cottage cheese. I guess a lot of breakfast foods before and during my period. lol I also just got on a pill my aunt suggested called Bentyl. It's an anti-spazmotic drug for IBS. I would say it does work some, but you still have to watch what you eat. I just take it right before my period starts. Everyone's different though. You could kind of test yourself out to what foods you can tolerate and which ones to avoid. My aunt can't eat avocado, corn, tomatoes, grapes...a bunch of things, while I can eat those just fine.

Take care & I hope this helps!
