Sicko was Good, to D

Hey D,

I went and saw Sicko with my aunt 2 weeks ago when I was visiting in Colorado. Boy, did we cry. Everyone in the theatre was wriled up. I think people should see it too, although most people here in TX want to kill MIchael Moore, so I have not told any of my friends here about it. They thought Fahrenheit 911 was bogus too, but never were open-minded enough to even see it. I think MIchael Moore did a great job showing how poorly Americans are taken care of when it comes to healthcare and how outrageously expensive it is, however, I wished he would have exposed the dishonesty and corruption of pharmaceutical companies, the FDA and some doctors as well.

They are the ones who manufacture dangerous drugs, approve them, give us multiple prescriptions that we don't need or cause us to have OTHER symptoms, which drives up the cost of our healthcare in the first place!

It is so true that politicians play a role and are in the pockets of the pharmaceutical companies. A lot of examples in his movie too. Govenor Rick Perry of TX is trying to make it a LAW or maybe alerady has, that 12 year old girls HAVE to have the shot Gardasil to prevent HPV (Human Papilloma Virus).

Who the hell is he to tell us what shots to give our children and what are the side effects and long term effects of this shot? HPV cannot even be contracted unless the girl is sexually active. I wonder how much Merck Pharmaceuticals is contributing to his next campaign?! Then the whole conviction of TAP Pharmaceuticals who makes Lurpon is a scary thing too. $890 million in fines they paid and are still going strong. They own sites that masquerade as Endo help sites for women and all the people who respond to your questions really work for TAP to promote Lupron.

That is why I think it is so important for women to demand to have their hormones tested, because that could help a lot right there, explain many of their symptoms and they could avoid putting all these unnecessary drugs in their bodies. We all really need to research on how to fix ourselves including knowing everything about the drugs we take, because it seems that so many people in the medical field can no longer be trusted. Of course a lot of us need excision surgery with a specialist too to get relief, but we need to know our medicines!

My mom was given 5 times the dosage of prednisone that she should have been given for her asthma for years. I never knew this until she was diagnosed with liver cancer and died at 44, eleven years ago. I read up on it, and thought, "Why the hell did the doctor do that?" "How can he be held accountable?" That is part of the reason I am so bitter and unwilling to take a doctor's word for anything. I never filled a prescription right away after my mom died until reading everything I could about it.

Sorry if I went on too much, but I get so angry when so many of us can't seem to get the help we need!

I hope your surgery goes well and gives me the courage I need to get mine. You will have to keep me posted. I wish we all lived in the same town and could all go through recovery together! That would make it a lot less scary.

Have a nice & restful weekend. ttys
