Re: Anyone who tried Lupron, please respond. From: Erica (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon Jul 16 17:25:33 2007
Kristen, Hi, anytime anyone requests info on Lupron I feel compelled to respond. Of course you have to ultimately make the decision but I would strongly advise you NOT to take Lupron. If you go through this forum and read all the stories and research on this drug it is a scary thing! I tried Lupron twice, both times for two months. I gave it another try in January b/c like so many I was at the end of my rope. I'd had two laparoscopics and no pain relief plus countless meds. My doc pretty much said the only thing we could try would be Lupron and after careful consideration I went for it. After my second injection (days before I was scheduled to have a 3rd) I woke up in the middle of the night with severe joint pain. It came on all of a sudden and was the worst pain I've ever experienced (which is saying alot since I've had endo for four years). It affected my wrists, ankles, back, and worst of all knees. I can't relay to you the pain it caused me on top of the endo pain. I immediately stopped treatment. That was 7 months ago and I still live with joint pain on a daily basis. I have to take glucosamine daily and have had acupunture. Now along with endo pain I often feel very old for my age. I'm only 26 and I swear sometimes I feel like I'm 70. The Lupron only provided relief from pelvic pain while I was on it and the pain came back immediately after I stopped the injections. It is not a cure for endo although doctors portray it as such. Believe me I know you are looking for something, anything, to take away your pain but the truth is Lupron is not likely to provide you with any long-term relief and may very well add pain in other ways. I often wonder if I've done permanent damage to my bones/joints. Please Please look at the sites that others have recommended-I think you'll find more negative than positive reports. Have you researched excision surgery as opposed to laser laparoscopy? I'm asking b/c for so long I didnt' understand the difference but after doing the research I've found that excision surgery (performed by an endo specialist) has the best results for pain relief. I'm scheduled to see Dr. Redwine in 2 weeks and will be having excision surgery. Best of luck to you, if you want any more information feel free to email me at eml0817@cox.net
