Wow! Glad more of you are seeing how IMPORTANT hormone testing isFrom: andrea (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu Jul 12 12:53:03 2007
More and more of you have read my "The Cause of Endo" and I am so glad! A lot of you have some or most of the symptoms that I listed of estrogen dominance and whether we started off having it in puberty, or the pill caused it, we need to see what our hormone levels are NOW and get them fixed! I tell you, getting my hormones tested and balanced was the best thing that ever happened to me. I still have 3 severe days of pain a month, but that's it. No other horrible symptoms to deal with anymore. My regular doctor was the one who suggested it 4 years ago and I am forever grateful to him. I had asked 2 other OB/GYN's to do it years before, because it only made sense to me, but they refused!! Said they were worthless, and just wanted to put me on stronger BC pills or anti-depressants. Just because someone is in a white coat and has a bunch of degrees, does not mean they know what's best for you. YOU KNOW WHAT'S BEST FOR YOU, and you should demand it! Here is a list of what hormones to have tested and what the normal levels should be: http://www.fertilityplus.org/faq/hormonelevels.html#female Of course, the Estradiol, Progesterone and the SHBG are the most important and can explain where a lot of your symptoms are coming from. You have to get them tested on a certain day of your cycle, I think right before your period, when they peak, to get an accurate reading because they fluctuate. I absolutely HATE that a lot of you are on synthetic hormones (because they are linked to cancer), and wish those of you on them would consider trying the bio-identical ones. A drug company, Schering, has now patented a bio-identical progesterone called Prometrium. That way, doctors will be more willing to prescribe it, because they can make $ on it. I'm sure it's more expensive than the one I take, but at least more doctors will have access to it. Write me with any questions. Good luck to all of you and I'm glad I could open your eyes to a few things that could give you hope!
